Our Church, Our Home, Our Family.
This week Pastor Mike kicked off a new series called “Home.” We are excited to step into this season of learning what it means to be the family of God.
You can have a house but not have a home. In the same way, we can have a wonderful building and not be a church family. We can have all the bells and the whistles, the coffee, the lights, and the music. However, unless we become family, we have a house, but we don’t have a home.
Think about how different it feels when you are a guest at someone’s house compared to being a part of the family. When you are part of the family, it feels different. It feels like home, and you know that you belong. It’s like having refrigerator rights; when you are part of the family, you have free access to the contents of the family refrigerator. When you go to someone’s house and get refrigerator rights, you know you are part of the family. What does it look like to have refrigerator rights in a Church family?
The Church is God’s family, and when the family gathers, they create a home. A place where everyone is known, loved and understood. In the Bible, Jesus’ followers refer to each other as brothers and sisters. Even Jesus himself calls us brothers and sisters (Hebrews 2:11). If Jesus wants to relate to us as a brother or a sister, how much more should we relate to each other as brothers and sisters?
If you missed the message or church today, no worries, we have you covered! “Home” is now available to watch on YouTube. You can stream it today!
